Car Loans

I'm gonna be honest with you. I hate shopping for new cars! I like the "picking out the car" part, I just don't like negotiating over the price or the terms of the car loan. However, I have learned that you just gotta bite the bullet and do it because these dealer and their finance guys will sling all kinds of crap at you. I once had a sales guy that was trying to roll some fee into the car loan twice. He just called it something different. I told him to take one out or the deal was done. What an idiot!

Personally, I now try and get my car loans done ahead of time before I ever even go to the dealership. I tried chase online once. That went pretty smooth actually. But I think you can do better if you shop around. Depends on your credit score too, but it is very nice to walk into the dealership and just tell him you want "X" car at "X" price and NO, you don't need financing help. Hehe..I love that! What happens is that these companies will send you a check and it's good up to a certain amount. The dealer has to call and get approval on it so you just can't go write it out to anyone but it's pretty cool from where I'm sitting.

So if I were you, I'd be careful with a car loan while at the dealership. And don't always believe those 0% thingys too. What a joke. If you're LITERALLY a few days late on a payment, they can then end up charging you like 14% or 15% interest on the loan. Don't get sucked into that junk. Just get the lowest rate you can find given your credit, and stick with it. I'd also advise not to go beyond 6 years on the loan length. Most of us want to get a new car every 5 or 6 years. Anything longer than that is REALLY pushing it.

I wish you well in your search for car loans. Just remember what I said and make sure you read everything about the loan at least a few times. Better safe than sorry. Good luck.
